Second prize for Geoff

4:30pm Thursday 9th February 2012

DUMBLETON Cricket Club groundsman Geoff Hemming has scooped an award for the second year running.

Hemming was made groundsman of the season for the Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Division of the West of England Premier League.

He has been responsible for the ground at Dumbleton for more than 30 years.

At their annual meeting, they looked back on a bumper year of charity fundraising.

The club’s annual golf day at Tewkesbury Park and Country Club saw nearly 30 teams help raise £4,000 for Help for Heroes.

Proceeds from the annual bonfire night party were split with Oakhill School, while the club’s tea ladies made money for Winston’s Wish and Help for Heroes by publishing a cheeky calendar.

On the field, the first XI were unlucky to be relegated by just one point but reached the National Village Knock-out semi-finals. They missed out on a trip to Lord’s by eight runs to Rottingdean.
