PM impresses on school’s ice rink
3:00pm Thursday 9th February 2012

A PRIMARY school in Chipping Norton was turned into a winter wonderland at the weekend – and was visited by a very special guest.
The grounds of Holy Trinity Primary School were transformed into an ice-skating rink on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with about 1,000 people donning their skates and taking to the ice. About £6,000 was raised over the three-day event, which was organised by the PTA to raise money for 16 laptops.
Prime Minister David Cameron dropped in on Saturday with his eldest children Nancy and Arthur, who put their best feet forward on the ice. PTA chairman Catherine Williams was delighted that they raised well over their target of £5,000.
She said: “We’re chuffed to bits. It was a lovely community effort. We have had amazing support from our sponsors in Chipping Norton.
“The majority of the children hadn’t skated before. There were just smiles all round.
David Cameron was better than most of the dads. He was quite confident on the ice.
“We will make it an annual event and double the size of the ice rink next year.”
