Fierce blaze destroys barn

A BARN has been destroyed by fire, taking thousands of litres of diesel and heating oil with it.

The fire at the large metal storage barn in Willersey Road, Badsey, was spotted by a passer-by at about 12.25pm on Saturday.

Six fire engines from Evesham, Pebworth, Worcester, Upton-upon- Severn and Broadway tackled the flames, but the fire was already well under way.

The blaze is thought to have started in a vehicle stored in the barn.

Fire crews brought it under control after three hours.

Station Commander Dave Holland from the fire service said: “The barn had agricultural machinery and several thousand litres of heating oil and bio-diesel stored inside it.

“The fire was well developed when we arrived and as it involved three tractors and combustible materials, extra resources were immediately requested."
