Plans for skate park unveiled
9:30am Friday 27th January 2012
DESIGNS for a much-anticipated new skate park in Moreton are being unveiled on Saturday and youngsters are invited to go along and choose their favourite.
The £65,000 project, which has been in the pipeline for 14 years, is expected to be built on the site of Moreton Rangers Football Club’s dilapidated clubhouse on London Road.
Four designs will be on display at the town council offices, Old Town, from 10am to 2pm and youngsters can choose the one they like best.
It is hoped the winning design will be discussed at the next full council meeting on Monday, February 13.
Councillors still need to raise £25,000 for the skate bowl, which they will apply for through grants.
They are already two-thirds of the way there after receiving a donation of £20,000 from housing developers Bloor Homes and CALA Homes which are behind the residential development on the Fire Service College.
A further £20,000 has been earmarked to come out of the council’s reserves.
